Listen, Learn, Live.

"But let everyone be quick to hear....in humility receive the word implanted...But prove yourselves doers of he Word, and not merely hearers" James 1:19-22. I often find myself like the apostle Peter in that I seem to open my mouth too freely. James reminds me here to be quick to hear and "slow to speak." In context it seems he has in mind, at least partly, that we listen to God's Word--received in humility--and then obey it (be doers of the word). Hearing and doing rather than speaking and ignoring is the key to blessing. See James 1:25--"look intently at the law of God and abide by it." Lord help me to listen and then do what you are telling me through your word.
