Secure in His Hands Even When Life is Hard.

In Psalm 44 the writer expressed a strong allegiance to God, a strong confidence and trust in God in the face of strong enemies-- "In God we have boasted all day long, and we will give thanks to Your name forever" (Ps.44:8). But the amazing thing is that despite the people's devotion and dependence upon God they were suffering at the hands of their adversaries. Yet they still stayed true to the Lord-- "All this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You...Our heart has not turned back, and our steps have not deviated from Your way" (vss.17-18). It is this context of suffering while staying faithful that Paul draws his quote in Romans 8:36 from-- "For Your sake we are being put to death all day long. We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered" and yet he echoes the same resilience to trust in God in such difficult circumstances saying that nothing will separate believers from God's Love and that in all of our struggles we are more than conquerors. In spite of the difficulty Lord, help us keep perspective that we are secure in your hands.
